How to Nominate
*Each year the nomination period starts on June 25th and ends on July 22nd, and winners announced on August 1, International Childfree Day!*
For the first five years of International Childfree Day, the nominees were for the Childfree Man and Woman of the Year. In the interest of expanding the variety of nominations, in 2018 we changed it up! The nomination categories are:
Childfree Person of the Year
The Childfree Person of the Year nominee can be a person of any gender identification.
Childfree Group of the Year
The nominee category can be a couple, duo, trio, or a group. Examples include but are not limited to childfree romantic partners, childfree Meetup groups, social media groups/admins, website founders.
*Winner Selection Panel members cannot be nominated
Nomination Rules:
For each nomination category:
1. Nominees are childfree; they do not want children now or in the future.
2. The nominators know or are acquainted with the person(s) personally or professionally.
*Tip: Rather than those already in the spotlight or known, ICD seeks to bring new global childfree people and their lives into the spotlight.
3. Re-nominations of a person(s) who previously did not win are always accepted!
4. Self-nominations are of course accepted!
For the Childfree Person of the Year:
In 500 words or less, please answer these questions about your nominee:
- What about your nominee makes the person an ideal candidate for the Childfree Person of the Year award?
- How does the person show what an amazing childfree life can look like?
- How has the nominee helped the acceptance of the childfree choice?
For the Childfree Group of the Year:
In 500 words or less, please answer these questions about your nominee:
- Why is your nominee group an ideal candidate for the Childfree Group of the Year award?
- What is exemplary about the group’s goals and accomplishments?
- How has the group’s purpose or goals helped the acceptance of childfree choice?
The nomination submissions begin June 25th
