~ The space or dash creates a homonym. The word becomes a phrase to include things such as events or venues. Example: “This is a child-free resort” or “The bride and groom would like to have a child free wedding ceremony.”
~ The two terms are mutually exclusive.
~ It is a misnomer to use the terms “childless-by-choice” or “voluntarily childless” in place of “childfree”. The Childless community, similar by not currently having a child, is different in the future goal to become a parent.Â
