lauraLaura Carroll is a seasoned communications consultant and writes nonfiction. Her book on childfree couples, Families of Two, received international acclaim and paved the way for her to become a leading voice on the childfree choice. She ran the popular blog, La Vie Childfree, and is currently conducting a longitudinal study on childfree women. Her latest book is The Baby Matrix:Why Freeing Our Minds From Outmoded Thinking About Parenthood & Reproduction Will Create a Better World. International Childfree Day

Dr. Patricia Pedraza-Nafziger is a Graduate Professor teaching Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence and is an Award-Winning Author. Her book, Being Fruitful without Multiplying: Stories and Essays from Around the World, published by Coffeetown Press, won the 2014 IPPY Gold Medal Book Award. Patricia enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs and considers herself a life-long learner.

International Childfree DayAmy Blackstone is a sociologist whose areas of expertise include childfree families, research methods, and workplace experiences. Amy is Associate Professor and Chair of Sociology at the University of Maine. Amy has presented and published her work in a variety of venues, both popular and academic.

Lance Blackstone’s day job involves software — and wishing he didn’t have a day job. Lance is a tropical fish and scuba enthusiast and he blogs and guest blogs on being childfree from a guy’s perspective. Amy and Lance have been married for over 18 years and are happily childfree. Together, they run the childfree blog we’re {not} having a baby.

International Childfree DayJennifer Thorpe-Moscon is the 2013 International Childfree Woman of the Year. She is a researcher at a non-profit that promotes gender equality in the workplace and the author of How Geek Girls Will Rule the World. She advocates for the rights of the childfree in the personal, workplace, and political spheres. She is married to Eric Thorpe-Moscon, who is also happily childfree. Together they enjoy traveling, fine whisky, and fantasy novels.

2013 Childfree Man of the YearThéophile de Giraud, a Belgian writer and childfree activist, is the 2013 International Childfree Man of the Year. He has written a book in French challenging pronatalism: L’art de guillotiner les procréateurs : manifeste anti-nataliste. He also created with Frédérique Longrée the “Fête des Non-Parents” – the “Non-Parents Feast” to celebrate the childfree, and reduce the social pressure on those who decide not to procreate. Theophile has also written several articles on overpopulation issues.
